Can I record a voice with my computer?

In order to record a voice you need:

• A computer with an internet connection
• A built-in or separate microphone or headset. Many laptops have a built-in microphone nowadays.

And of course a healthy dose of humour and creativity. It is of course the intention to record you voice in an as funny way as possible.

We currently support 3 brands of navigation systems: TOMTOM, Garmin and MIO. However, not all models are supported by us! Check whether you system is supported by us in the following overview.

Will I lose my old navigation voice if I install a different voice?

No, you will not have lost your old (original) navigation voice when you have installed a different voice. You can always place the old voice back on your navigation system.

If you cannot do this, send an e-mail to helpdesk@navigoat.com, so that we can help you in placing back your original navigation voice.

What should I do to get my own voice on my navigation system?

In order to record your own voice on your navigation system, you must record a number of instructions. The reason is that the voice in a navigation system makes use of standard words and sentences that are ‘stuck together’ when navigating.

For example: “After”, “500”, “metres”, “take the turning on your right”, “then”, “turn right”.

You can record all these words and sentences yourself on our site and also personalise them. The number of instructions that you must record depends on the brand of your navigation system.

Because of our simple interface, you will have recorded your own voice on your navigation system within 10 minutes!

Does my computer have a built-in microphone?

Most modern laptops have a built-in microphone. You can usually recognise this by a small hole in the casing of your laptop.

Can I also give my voice as a gift to someone?

Yes, that is possible! It is very nice to give your personal voice to someone as a gift. We offer two gift options:

• You record a voice and send it as a gift to someone by e-mail.
• You record a voice and send it as a gift to someone on a USB stick. This stick is delivered in nice gift wrapping paper to the address stated by you.

Both the e-mail and the USB stick include a name and a personal text, and they are delivered on the date stated by you.

What does gift options mean?

It is of course fun to record a voice for yourself or download a ready-made voice. But it is also nice to give a personal voice to someone as a gift. We offer two gift options:

• You buy one of our products and send it as a gift to someone by e-mail.
• You buy one of our products and send it as a gift to someone else on a USB stick. This stick is delivered in nice gift wrapping paper to the address stated by you.

Both the e-mail and the USB stick include a name and a personal text, and they are delivered on the date stated by you.

In the payment window you can indicate whether (and how) you want to send one of our products as a gift.

Can I also adapt the texts in a creative way?

Certainly! It is fun to deal with texts in a creative way. For example, you can think of funny dialects or alternative texts.

When recording, you can play a number of examples with every instruction. This will inspire you to record your own voice. It is of course best to do this entirely according to your own wishes.

When recording the various instructions, you can think of nice alternatives for the various instructions. However, if you first want to prepare yourself well, you can also download a PDF file that lists all the instructions of your navigation system.

How can I find out what kind of navigation system I have?

The brand is obviously mentioned on your navigation system and will undoubtedly be known. The specific type of this brand is always mentioned on your navigation system itself. This can usually be found at the bottom of the device.

What is the Goatfarm?

The Goatfarm is our download platform. There you can find all kinds of funny gadgets for your navigation system. At present you will only see Name Voices and Navigation Voices, but there will be many more things in the future. When you register for our newsletter, we can send you information about new items.

Can I place my own voice in the Goatfarm?

If you would like to that others can download the voice that you recorded and install it on their navigation system, you can mention this. This message will be received by us. The Navigoat team will listen to the voice and decided on the basis of this whether it will be recorded in the Goatfarm. Within 5 working days you will receive a message from us by e-mail whether the voice will be included.

We will assess your voice according to the following criteria, among others:

• Sound quality
• Clarity
• Content (so no objectionable, offensive or otherwise hurtful texts)
• Uniqueness
• Fun factor

In short: when you really take the recording of your voice seriously, there is a great chance that the voice will be included in the Goatfarm and all our users will be able to install it on their navigation system.

How can I delete my voice from the Goatfarm?

When you have recorded a voice in order to include it in the Goatfarm and it has been accepted by us, it is possible to delete the voice again from the Goatfarm. Send an e-mail to goatfarm@navigoat.com. When we receive this message, we will delete the voice from the Goatfarm within 5 working days. You will receive a confirmation from us by e-mail.

Attention! The voices that have already been installed by our users on their own navigation system cannot be deleted by us!

What are name voices?

Name voices are basically the same as a normal navigation voice, however these voices have been personalised with your own name. This means that you will be addressed personally by your navigation system when navigating!

You can hear a preview of all name voices with your name.

How can I find the name voices with my name?

Every name voice has been combined with 1,700 different names. So there is a great chance that your name is included. You can quickly see which voices we have in combination with your name by entering your name in the search field and let the system search for all voices. You can listen to a preview of every name voice that appears in the result window.

What are navigation voices?

A navigation voice is the voice that you hear from your navigation system when you send it to certain location. This voice is included as a standard with your navigation system. However, it is often a very serious and impersonal voice. We offer you various voices, so that the sound from your navigation system will be nicer, funnier and much more personal.

We offer ready-made voices on Navigoat.com that have been recorded by users of this site or by professionals. However, it is also possible to record your own navigation voice here quickly, easily and with a good quality.
